Let me guess; you want to increase your sales revenues but you’re ‘too busy’ and don’t have enough time to change your approach and way of working in order to achieve this ?

So that’s it then………. your ambitious plans to get to £2m, then £5m or even more have stalled. There may be perfectly valid reasons and I would imagine some of the following may ring true:

  • You mentioned the aspirational turnover figure to friends, staff and colleagues but deep down you didn’t really believe you’d get there ?
  • You simply haven’t yet got the plan to get you to the end destination ?
  • Increased growth means more demands on your time and, don’t tell me, ‘it’s all stuff that only you can do’ ?
  • You’ve worked out that in order to increase further you’ll have to go through an investment plan and maybe turning the ambitious business into more of a ‘lifestyle’ type business is starting to become far less stressful and far more attractive ?

We all know that it’s highly unlikely that anything dramatic is going to change unless you initiate the change, and the chances are you probably already know some of the actions that are required, you just haven’t done it yet because of other responsibilities.

Adding high quality, experienced directors to your team on a part time basis is a model that works, and it’s a model that is growing rapidly in the UK and so are some of the clients of Sales Plus Profit. To further validate this thought is the recent upsurge in highly successful people now seeking a more flexible and exciting way of working, typically after selling their own businesses or those simple fed up of 5 days a week doing the same corporate stuff day in day out and just picking up the pay check.

A report last year from Department for Business, Innovation & Skills showed that at last count there were approximately 180,000 businesses in the UK employing between 10-49 staff and only 30,000 businesses employing between 49-250 staff. Perhaps another way of looking at this that only 17% of UK businesses ever jump up between these parameters

Your own personal work capacity should not be an inhibitor for growth. You may need quality people around you to help but they don’t always have to be full time. The results are that you save considerable money of recruitment fees, you de-risk the whole hiring process (in case it doesn’t work out) and perhaps most important of all you maintain control and you get to keep hold of your hard earned equity 😉
